Mission Update
March 31, 2005
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings to you and family once again in the wonderful name of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Trusting that these few lines find you
well, by God’s grace and mercy I made it back home safely. On the
first of March, I left Charlotte for Atlanta to meet with Bro. Tony to
fly to Lima Peru. We arrived there at 11.30 P.M. There were so many
travelers from an earlier flight, that we had to wait for two hours
before clearing immigration. We got to our hotel room about 3:00 A.M.
By 9:00 A.M. in the morning with meet with a delegation of ministers
to set up the details of the meetings. At 6:00 P.M. that night I was
invited at a local message church in Independencia, that is pastored
by Bro. Cano. I spoke on a very simple message that was an
encouragement to the brethren.
On the 4th, we had an evangelistic meeting at the hotel. I spoke to
the audience of about 400 people. Many of them that attended heard of
the meetings through the radio and TV. Many gave their hearts to the
Lord. About 10 message churches attended the meeting on Friday. On the
5th, Saturday, we had a ministers meeting all day long, with about 50
ministers. There were many questions and by taking the message we was
able to give them the answer. It was a tremendous blessing to them and
as a result, they requested that we do a follow up the following
Saturday.

I spoke in the following churches: Bro. Mateo/Olivos, Bro. Cano/Independencia,
Bro. Teddy/Carabayllo, Bro. Edwardo/Vitarte, Bro.Vela/Ate, Bro. Eagler/Callao,
Bro. Coca/Villa de Salvador, Bro. Gitan/Pro. It was a real
encouragement to the brethren and myself. They want us to return as
soon as it is possible. I was privilege to visit the Voice of God
distribution office, in Lima. It was a great blessing to me to see the
number of CD Players, MP3 CD‘s and the books that was translated in
Spanish and ready for distribution to the believers. The brother in
charge of the office wanted me to have a view of the work that is
being done. About eight years ago his wife was healed of a rare
condition after I prayed for her. They were very thankful for what the
Lord had done.
On the 15th of March, Bro. Tony and myself went to Santiago, Chile for
nine days. We were suppose to be received at the airport by some
brethren but no one showed up, so we had to check into a hotel. The
enemy was fighting on every side. Bro. Tony had to pay $100 for his
visa on the other had I was fortunate to get by without paying for a
visa. The following evening, I contacted a pastor, Bro. Carlos Canatte,
who came to meet us and then we found out that he was at the airport
four hours earlier. He was given wrong information by our contact from
Lima. He insisted that we stay with him at his home. His home was very
simple but hospitable. We spoke at his church the first night. It was
a great blessing. I was so impressed with the atmosphere in the
church. One hour before service everyone was on their knees praying.
It was so orderly. The little children were taking care of by a couple
adults in a special room. Service started at 8:00 P.M. and by 12:15
A.M. it ended. No one seemed to be in a hurry to get home. We held
three services at this pastor’s church. Bro. Carlos Canatte took very
good care of us. The last service at his church was very lengthy. We
started at 10:00 A.M. and finished at 7:30 P.M. It was so emotional,
the pastor in his closing remarks was in tears and the whole
congregation seemed to follow him. They began to weep. It was very
touching. The next day a few of his deacons and believers gathered at
9:00 P.M. for some fellowship. They had many questions to ask and at
6:00 A.M. we had finished answering all the questions they were ready
to go home. We visited two other churches. One was Bro. Hosea Canatte,
which is out in the country. It was a two and half-hour drive one way.
The brethren were very eager to hear the word of God. There was no
time limit so the service ended at 12:00 A.M. We were invited after
service to have a snack at a believer’s home. They had some bread and
cheese and great big bunches of globe grapes that are grown in the
backyard. The country is blessed with many different fruits. The
brother’s even gave us a 50-lb. bag of onions as an offering. We
visited Bro. Pedro Paraltha’s church, he has a large congregation. The
youths did a wonderful job in singing and worshiping. We had wonderful
services there. Again the service started at 8:00 P.M. and ended at
12:15 A.M. No one seemed to be in a rush to get home. We really
enjoyed our time of fellowship with the brethren there and the big
meal that they served us, after service. We got home at 3:00 A.M. and
at 5:00 A.M. we had to be at the airport to leave for Lima Peru. There
were many brethren to see us off at the airport. We really felt such a
bond and love from these brethren, that it was hard to leave.
We returned to Lima, Peru at 11:00 A.M. on the 24th of March. There
was a group of ministers waiting to receive us at the airport. The
brethren wanted us to have one more meeting before we returned to the
states. We went to Bro. Luis Salcido’s church. They had a question and
answer period. The service started at 6:00 P.M. and by 10:00 P.M. we
were finished. We had to be at the airport at 11:00 P.M. to catch our
flight for 1:05 A.M. It was very tiring but we were thankful that we
were able to be a blessing to the brethren.
May the Lord richly bless you is my prayer. Please give my love and
greeting to all the brethren and continue to pray for the brethren in
both of these countries and the bride internationally. Please remember
me in prayer. I have to make a decision shortly. I received a call
from a brother that is my translator, in Cambodia. He is planning to
bring his family to the United States to live. Before he comes, he
wants me to come to his country by the ending of April or May. He
wants us to have some meeting with the new pastors that has accepted
the message in the past two years. Also, I have been praying about
going to Burma for three months to oversee the translation work and
visiting the brethren at the different churches. I just got an e-mail
that the government will allow me to stay there but it will cost me
$100 a month for permission plus my living expenses, that will be
extra. I would like to take my wife with me but the cost will be
double. I appreciate you praying for me about this situation.
Shalom,
Bro. Cyril Mahadeo
