REPORT ON LAST MISSIONARY TRIP TO HONG
KONG, THAILAND AND BURMA
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings in the name of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Trusting
in the Love, Mercy and Grace of God in Christ Jesus. (Col. 2:10)
Leaving Charlotte, NC on the 31st of January and arriving on the 1st
of February in Hong Kong. I was greeted at the airport by two visiting
brothers. One Bro. Roel Soriano, from the Philippines, and Bro.
Claudio Onno, from Mauritius. After clearing customs, we rode a double
decker bus with all our luggage for one hour. Then going through the
subway and walking about 3 blocks to the apartment, where we had to
climb 7 flights of steps to the seventh floor, with all our luggage.
We were refreshed by the wonderful fellowship that we had with the
saints, who are from the Philippines, that are working in Hong Kong. I
spent three days with them.
I left Hong Kong at midnight, on the third day, I flew to Bangkok,
arriving about 1:30 A.M. Pastor Braphan Nomai and two brothers were
there to receive me. After receiving my luggage we started on the
journey to Bro. Nomai’s house. We arrived at his place about 8:00 A.M.
I checked into a hotel.

It was great meeting the saints, once
again, and fellowshipping with them for five days. I was very
impressed with the progress that they are making in translating and
printing the message books, in the Thai language. Up to now, they have
about 12 message books in the Thai language. Three more is ready for
printing. I returned to Bangkok to apply for a visa to go to Burma but
I found out that I had to wait for 5 days before getting a visa. I was
a bit disappointed because I had already made reservations to go to
Burma in two days time. I was told by one of the employees, at the
embassy, if I give $50, I could get my visa in 3 hours. I found out
that money talks in most of these 3rd world countries.
Leaving Bangkok, Bro. Nomai from Thailand accompanied me, we arrived
in Burma at 10:00 P. M. We were greeted by Pastor Alfred Biaka and
eight other ministers from different parts of the country. These
ministers came to be in the special meetings that we were going to
have. We traveled to the guest house, where the electricity was out
and they had candle lights and a lantern to show us to our room. It
was hot and very sticky but we were thankful for a bed to lay our head
down and a shower to refresh ourselves. Electricity was only on for 5
hours a day, at different times of the day. The following day, our
services began, 4 sessions a day, for one week. We had a many
ministers attending the meetings. It was very fruitful. I spoke on
different topics that was very inspiring to them. I also gave each
minister a chance to express what they knew about the message, so I
could tell how each minister was progressing. I found out that there
are still a lot to do because these ministers are limited in the
literature that they have. Many can not speak English and they do not
have audio tapes of the message in their local language. Many
questions was asked and as a result, they requested that we have a six
week training session, with all the ministers from Burma, in January,
2007, the Lord willing. The prophet said that we should train young
ministers to sweep this message on until the coming of the Lord.
I met with the 7 members, of our office staff of Rangoon, that does
the translating, typing, printing and putting the books together. I
was very pleased with their dedication and faithfulness in getting the
books ready for distribution. I also met with 8 different brothers
that are translating the message books in their own dialect. Some of
these brothers only have a manual typewriter to type the message after
it has been translated. Their sacrifice is great. They do not have
electricity but only two times a week.
Unfortunately, electricity is a problem. We have to use a generator to
operate the computers. It takes one gallon of petro to run the
generator for 6 hours. The government only allows 2 gallons of petro a
day for your vehicle every third day. The petro is very difficult to
get, it cost about $3.00 a gallon on the black market. The people work
all day long for $1.00. One brother, in the Kalaymyo area, if he had
$1500, he can produce a hydro electric system to help the brothers
around his area to have electricity all the time. I pray that the Lord
will provide this for these brothers.
There are restricted areas that a foreigner’s can not go. One brother
by the name of Ko Ye, that has about 11 little groups in these areas,
wanted me to visit them. I took a chance for 4 days to go with him in
some of these areas. The road was very rough and dusty, very difficult
to travel. I was shocked because of the poverty in these areas. The
brethren minister under harsh conditions, being faithful to the word
of God. Bro. Ko Ye had written to me to help build some churches but I
did not reply to him right away. Only when I went, the needs became
more visible to me. One place, I saw over 100 young people gathering
for a meeting that did not have a building to worship in. They gather
under the trees to worship. Most of these people are Buddhist but they
want to hear the truth of the gospel. One sister has been teaching
them the bible for about one year. Now the sister is stepping aside so
a brother can minister the word of God to the people. I was privileged
to baptize this sister, plus about 19 other brethren. At another place
in the same area, one brother by the name of James, that is 29 years
old, takes care of about 20 orphans, plus about 20 Buddhist children,
without any financial support, only what the Buddhist people in the
area give to him. He has a 60 year old sister that helps him take care
of these children. They really live by faith. He told me that it would
take about $250 a month to feed, cloth and shelter these children.
In another area, that I visited, Bro. Ko Ye’s wife goes every Saturday
to teach the children about Jesus. There are over 100 children from
the age of 16 years and down that do not go to school because their
parents have only temporary jobs, as laborers, building bridges and
having to move when the bridges are completed. The sister ask me to
pray that God will provide $5.00 a month to pay traveling expenses to
go and teach these children. Her husband helps about 10 others
pastor’s with the little support that we give him every month. By
faith, I hired a teacher for $20 a month, to teach these children. I
need to build a temporary building for the children to gather and to
be taught. The present thatch roof building will not stand the raining
season. It will cost about $900 to build a building that they can take
with them when they move to a different area.
I returned to Hong Kong to minister to the saints there. The Lord
moved in a great way and answered their prayer concerning a building,
that they had been wanting to rent, for three years. We were able to
purchase a computer, that will be a tremendous help to them.
I would like to share a short testimony about what took place in the
Philippines. There were five pastors that had requested that the Lord
would provide a way for them to get a horse, because when they go and
preach the gospel, they have to walk from 5 to 15 kilometers up the
mountainous terrain. It cost $200 to get a horse. We were able to buy
five horses for them and within two weeks one gave birth and another
one is about to give birth. The brethren were very thankful for the
horses. Remember these brethren in your prayers.
I returned home on the 27th of February. I will be leaving to go to
Trinidad on the 28th of this month and maybe to a couple other
countries. Please remember me in your prayers. God Bless.
Shalom,
Bro. Cyril Mahadeo
P.S. Please remember Bro. Nestor
Espanola, from the Philippines, that has gone to Nepal to minister
with Bro. Lukram. There are a lot of fighting between the Maoist
Rebels and the government troops. Many areas are shut down.
